She's a wonderful narrator and has a story that inspires me to just keep doing my thing even if I have big dreams that most people think are a little unrealistic and am a little neurotic at times.

Calling All Feminists

My coworker has been reading this book for several months now, off and on, and keeps mentioning different passages to me. It is a book that somehow escaped me through my studies, even though I tried to focus on writings by women of color who are politically inclined. Now that I have it in my hands, I'm wondering how it never ended up on any of my reading lists.

It's Time to Celebrate Some Local Artists

Yesterday I attended the 20th annual Martin Luther King Jr. Human Rights Conference organized by the Whatcom Human Rights Task Force. A few people that I work with were presenting on different topics important to me, but on a whim I ended up going to a workshop facilitated by two local artists/writers who I had not yet met but I had heard about when I was still kicking around with my MFA grad school crew on the regular.
